1221 Avenue of the Americas
McGraw-Hill Building

Renovated Lobby

A bright, elegant environment was introduced in the new McGraw-Hill Building lobby, completed in 2000, as warm French limestone replaced the lobby’s original walls and portions of the floor.

The architect established an entry focal point with a dramatic stainless steel sculpture suspended above a large circular information kiosk.

Entrance Canopy

The new lobby is a beacon of light readily visible from the Avenue of the Americas. A broad, elevated entrance canopy, designed in stainless steel, makes the lobby’s entrance known from the avenue.

Dining & Retail Amenities

Rockefeller Group Development Corporation actively seeks a diverse mix of quality retailers and restaurants to create an attractive amenity for office tenants.

The celebrated Del Frisco’s Steak House, with 30-foot-tall windows overlooking the McGraw-Hill Plaza, is one of four dining establishments in the building. There’s also an exercise and fitness center, women’s apparel store, greeting card store, drugstore, shoe repair, newsstand, and an ATM banking machine in the lobby.

Rockefeller Center Concourse

McGraw-Hill Building tenants have direct weatherproof access to the underground Rockefeller Center Concourse, with more than 100 retail shops and services, and to the B, D, F, and Q Subway trains.

On the Concourse, directly opposite the glass wall and doors that open onto the McGraw-Hill Building Plaza, is this stunning 13-foot x-17-foot sculpture, interpreted from a 1930’s design by Hildreth Meiere. This sculpture is the centerpiece of a renovation Rockefeller Group Development Corporation completed in 1988 on the Concourse from 47th Street to 51st Street, along the west side of the Avenue of the Americas.

Security Officers Deliver Vigilance and Assistance

McGraw-Hill Building Patrol Officers are hired directly, trained continuously, and equipped well by Rockefeller Group Development Corporation to keep a careful watch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And they’re always ready to assist. The McGraw-Hill Building is one of a select few properties with an experienced security professional dedicated exclusively to security staff, performance, and quality.

Enriching Public Spaces and Artwork; Free Concerts

The McGraw-Hill Building exemplifies Rockefeller Group Development Corporation’s 70-year tradition of extending enriching spaces, amenities, and artworks to the public. Lunchtime crowds gather in the 11,000-square-foot McGraw-Hill Plaza to enjoy a series of free summer concerts sponsored annually by Rockefeller Group Development Corporation .

At either end of the Plaza, raised landscaped parks welcome visitors with benches, trees, and shrubbery. Broad steps from the sidewalk offer convenient access to the Rockefeller Center Concourse and the B, D, F, and Q subway lines.
