Safelite AutoGlass Signs Lease with The Rockefeller Group in Tucson

Auto Glass Repair Company To Take 33,311 SF at Rockefeller Group Distribution Cente

PHOENIX, AZ, October 31, 2011– Safelite AutoGlass®, the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services, announced today that the company signed a lease for 33,311 square feet of office and distribution space at Rockefeller Group Distribution Center/Tucson and will have a small area for onsite repairs at the facility. Safelite is relocating from its existing space in Tucson and expanding into the 113,000 square-foot state-of-the-art distribution building, which is already home to Towne Air Freight, a global logistics company.

“The Rockefeller Group is proud to add Safelite to our tenant roster in Tucson,” said Mark Singerman, Regional Director of RGDC’s Arizona office.  “We look forward to their occupancy in the spring of 2012 and wish them even greater success as they expand in the Tucson market with this new space.”

According to Singerman, one of the key reasons Safelite chose The Rockefeller Group facility was the state-of-the-art ESFR sprinkler system that the building has incorporated. This sprinkler system allows Safelite to avoid having to install costly in-rack sprinklers.  The building is also LEED Silver-certified, which is important to Safelite’s sustainability initiative.

“Safelite is excited to be moving into The Rockefeller Group’s Distribution Center and expanding our presence in Tucson,” said Paul Hunt, Real Estate Manager, Safelite Group, Inc. “The site is ideal for us because of its proximity to the Tucson Airport and the I-10 and I-19 freeways. We will store hundreds to thousands of windshields at the warehouse that will be loaded onto repair trucks to serve the Greater Tucson area.”

Peter Douglas and Rob Glaser of PICOR represented The Rockefeller Group on the transaction.

Rockefeller Group Distribution Center/Tucson is one of three buildings The Rockefeller Group is developing on a 21.5-acre finished industrial site it acquired in the Tucson Airport Commerce Center, near Tucson International Airport.  The finished building was opened in May 2009 with Towne Air Freight becoming the first tenant. The building is about 45% occupied with 68,000 square-feet still available. Adjacent to the completed building, 190,000-square-foot and 104,000-square-foot shovel-ready pads are available as well.

Safelite AutoGlass®, founded in 1947, is the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services, providing mobile service to more than 95 percent of the U.S. population in all 50 states. The Columbus, Ohio-based company employs nearly 10,000 people across the United States and served 4 million customers in 2010. For more information, visit www.safelite.com.
