Le Pain Quotidien Now Open at the Time-Life Building
The Rockefeller Group Continues To Sign Restaurants at Signature Buildings
NEW YORK, NY, December 17, 2009 –Rockefeller Group Development Corporation, a subsidiary of The Rockefeller Group, announced that Le Pain Quotidien, the New York-based bakery and café that originated in Belgium, has opened in the Time-Life Building at 1271 Avenue of the Americas. This marks the fourth restaurant/lounge to open in Rockefeller Group-owned buildings in 2009. Earlier this year, Capital Grille, Oceana, and 48 Lounge also opened at Rockefeller Group locations along Avenue of the Americas.
“We are pleased to add Le Pain Quotidien to our impressive roster of retailers at the Time-Life Building,” said Ed Guiltinan, vice president and regional director of Rockefeller Group Development Corporation. “The reputation of Le Pain Quotidien and the quality of their products is outstanding. We believe that the new Le Pain Quotidien location is a desirable amenity for tenants in the building, but also will be enjoyed by tourists visiting Rockefeller Center and Times Square and by tenants in other buildings in the area.”
When Le Pain Quotidien founder Alain Coumont had exhausted his search for the perfect bread, he founded Le Pain Quotidien in Brussels, Belgium, in 1990. The founding concept was a bread bakery, and Le Pain Quotidien still makes its organic loaves by hand, using only water, salt, and flour. The bakery-café also serves simple, elegant boulangerie fare — soup, salads, tartines, baguette sandwiches, breakfast, and pastries — made with organic ingredients whenever possible.
“We are happy to bring organic, wholesome food to the Time-Life Building,” said Jay Wainwright, president of Le Pain Quotidien’s U.S. Operations. “We are located right across the street from Radio City Music Hall, one block from Broadway, and in a very high traffic area. We are confident that this location will be one of our more successful stores.”
The Rockefeller Group owns and manages 1221 Avenue of the Americas (The McGraw-Hill Building) and 1271 Avenue of the Americas (The Time-Life Building ). Current retailers at the McGraw-Hill Building include 48 Lounge, Café Metro , Chipotle , Del Frisco ’s , NY Sports Club , and Oceana. Current retailers at the Time-Life Building include AT&T Wireless , Capital Grille , Fidelity Investor Center , Food Merchants , and Ted’s Montana Grill. |
