TUCSON, AZ, June 1, 2012 – Safelite AutoGlass®, the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services, announced the opening of its new onsite repair center, office and distribution facility in Tucson at 6855 S. Lisa Frank Ave. The onsite repair area features access to thousands of in-stock glass parts. The 33,311 square feet of space is located at Rockefeller Group Distribution Center/Tucson and was developed with The Rockefeller Group. The building is LEED Silver-certified, which is important to Safelite’s sustainability initiatives. Safelite has applied to have their interior improvements LEED-certified as well.

“Today is an exciting day for Safelite as we continue our expansion into Tucson in this beautiful new space The Rockefeller Group developed,” said Paul Hunt, Real Estate Manager, Safelite® Group, Inc. “The Greater Tucson area is a key market for us and I’m proud to say we will be here for a long time serving the community’s auto glass repair needs.”

The site is ideal for the company because of its proximity to the Tucson Airport and the I-10 and I-19 freeways.

“With both Safelite and Towne Air Freight occupying more than 45 percent of the building, we believe we have two terrific anchor tenants that will draw other companies to the Rockefeller Group Distribution Center,” said Mark Singerman, Regional Director of RGDC’s Arizona office. “Interest in Tucson is on the rise and Safelite’s commitment to the area shows that.”

Safelite relocated from existing space in Tucson and expanded into a portion of the 114,000 sf state-of-the-art distribution building.

Rockefeller Group Distribution Center in Tucson is one of three buildings The Rockefeller Group is developing on a 21.5-acre finished industrial site it acquired in the Tucson Airport Commerce Center, near Tucson International Airport. The finished building was opened in May 2009 with Towne Air Freight becoming the first tenant. Only 62,524 square-feet remain available in the building for lease. Adjacent to the completed building are two shovel-ready pads totaling nearly 300,000 square-feet.

Safelite AutoGlass®, founded in 1947, is the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services, providing mobile service to more than 95 percent of the U.S. population in all 50 states. The Columbus, Ohio-based company employs nearly 10,000 people across the United States and served 4.4 million customers last year. For more information, visit www.safelite.com.
